Obasanjo Endorses Peter Obi For President, Rejects Atiku And Tinubu

On Sunday, former president Olusegun Obasanjo revealed his preference for the presidency in the upcoming election, favoring Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) over all other contenders. In a message to Nigerians, Obasanjo asserted that Obi has an advantage over the other presidential contenders.
His Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi, provided the letter to the media on Sunday in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, with the heading: “My Appeal To All Nigerians, Particularly Young Nigerians.”
He claimed that Nigeria needed “leadership with character and fear of God beyond what we have had recently” and that it needed to be “selfless, bold, honest, patriotic, in short, excellent leadership.”
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, came under fire from Obasanjo, who said that the phrases “Emi Lokan” (my time) and “I have paid my dues” are synonymous and that this is the incorrect mindset and mentality for the current leadership of Nigeria. To reinvent and invest in a new Nigeria built on an All-Nigeria Government for the freedom and restoration of Nigeria, he declared: “They cannot construct the new pedestal. All facets of our national life, including the public, private, civil society, professional, labor, employers, and diaspora, must be represented in such a government. The answer should be found in “we” and “us,” not “me” and “I.”
The former president listed several criteria that young people should consider when choosing their candidate in the elections of 2023, including “track record of ability and performance; a vision that is authentic, honest, and realistic; character and attributes of a lady and a gentleman who are children of God and obedient to God; and physical and mental capability with the soundness of mind.”No contestant is a saint, but Peter Obi as a mentee has an advantage when one compares their character, antecedent, understanding, knowledge, discipline, and vitality that they can bring to the job and the great efforts required to stay focused on it, especially given where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I had.Others, including every one of us, have something to offer the new era’s collective freedom, restoration, and salvaging of Nigeria.
Peter is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South, thus it’s also crucial to note that he might not go lost. In other words, if and when necessary, he has individuals who can pluck his ears. He is running with a capable young man who has a sterling record of success in both his professional and personal life.
The last seven and a half years under President Muhammadu Buhari “have no doubt been interesting and difficult years for many Nigerians,” the former president lamented. From frying pan to fire and from mountaintop to the valley, we have moved.
Although our leaders gave it their all, their efforts fell short of what was best for Nigeria and Nigerians both at home and abroad. Most Nigerians described it as “hell on earth.””Brace ourselves for the last few months of this administration and pray and work very hard for an instant better future — one of liberation, restoration, and enormous hope and anticipation,” he pleaded with Nigerians.
