Lagos Issues Important Information On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Which Will Massively Affect Movement

The Lagos State Government on Friday declared a traffic detour on a portion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway owing to ongoing restoration, which could cause severe gridlock.

The interruption will last for 2.5 months. The dates are January 30 through April 15, 2023.

Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the state’s commissioner for transportation, announced on Friday that traffic at the Old Tollgate to Berger stretch of the route would be detoured from January 30 until April 15, 2023.

The Federal Ministry of Works is continuing its ongoing restoration of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with this.

According to him, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation received a notification that detailed how the construction would be done in brief bursts to minimize disruptions for drivers and how traffic on the Ibadan-bound carriageway would be reduced to two lanes to make room for the reconstruction of half of the Ibadan-bound carriageway.

In addition, Oladeinde said that the U-turn in front of the Lagos State Emergency Center will be temporarily closed to traffic. He also said that the traffic control point would direct expressway users to the next U-turn at the Old Toll Gate.
