Court Prohibits INEC From Utilizing MC Oluomo To Distribute Election Materials In Lagos

The Labour Party, LP requested a court order prohibiting the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from using Musliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo, the chairman of the Lagos Parks and Garages, to distribute election materials in Lagos. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos, granted their request.

A court order prohibiting MC Oluomo from taking part in the distribution of election materials had been requested by the LP and five other parties.

They stated their worries about his suspected involvement in thuggery and political violence.

The order sought to “restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (defendant/respondent) from taking any steps or further steps whatsoever in furtherance of the engagement or appointment or consummating the appointment of Musiliu Akinsanya, MC Oluomo-led Lagos State Parks Management Co., whether by itself or by its officers, affiliates, servants, privies, or agents or any person acting or purporting to act for and on behalf howsoever”

The restraining order was granted by Justice Aneke following the hearing of an application made by the LP’s attorney.
