Mozambican Pastor Dies While Attempting A 40-day Fast

An attempt to fast for 40 days and 40 nights by a Mozambican pastor who aspired to emulate Jesus Christ failed.
The founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church in Mozambique was the cleric Francisco Barajah.

Barajah reportedly lost so much weight in just 25 days that he was unable to stand.
The 39-year-old was taken by ambulance to a hospital in the city of Beira, where it was determined that he had acute anemia and digestive organ failure.
However, the advent of liquid diets and serum rehydration treatments for Barajah came too late, and he passed away.

Members of the Santa Trindade Church said it was common for the Pastor and his followers to fast, but not for that length of time.
Marques Manuel Barajah, the pastor’s brother, disagreed with the official cause of death.
He claimed that “my brother had low blood pressure.”
