PDP: Buhari Must Order The Release Of Billions Of New Naira Notes Allegedly In The Possession Of Tinubu And The APC Governors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, Bola Tinubu, has allegedly been holding hundreds of billions of new Naira notes to buy votes in the upcoming general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari order him to release them.
The PDP recalled that Buhari recognized that his administration on the platform of the APC initiated and implemented the Naira redesign and swap policies in his Thursday national broadcast, during which he extended the validity of the N200 note to April 10, 2023.
The PDP demanded that APC leaders, including its presidential candidate and governors, immediately release the hundreds of billions of new Naira notes that were allegedly intercepted and hoarded by them for vote-buying purposes. The PDP said that it “urges President Buhari to assuage the pain and anguish being experienced by Nigerians over the current cash crunch in the country.”
The President admitted that the Naira redesign and swap policies are APC administration initiatives in his speech to the country earlier today. The APC administration also has complete authority over the creation and distribution of the new notes. Therefore, it is evident that the PDP is not involved in any aspect of the process.
“Our party had already warned on how APC leaders reportedly hacked the system and diverted the new Naira notes to cause extensive civil disturbance to support their plot to disrupt the 2023 general elections and sever our democracy,” the statement from our party reads. The opposition group claimed that it has also “Exposed how APC governors are purportedly stockpiling new Naira notes in facilities in Lagos, Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Imo and other States of the nation to buy votes in the Presidential election.
“In a similar vein, our party raised concerns about how the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign had orchestrated the current cash crunch as a tactic to cause crisis while inciting Nigerians to insurrection to truncate the electoral process after realizing that the APC and its presidential candidate, Tinubu, had already been rejected by Nigerians.
“Our party shares the agony, suffering, and anguish experienced by Nigerians as a result of the greedy, vile, and anti-people APC leaders’ actions. The PDP commends Nigerians once more for their tenacity in the face of pain brought on by the APC.
“The APC and its presidential candidate must accept that on February 25, 2023, Nigerians will vote for Atiku, the PDP’s presidential candidate. The Tinubu Campaign’s threats and calls for violence will not discourage the populace.
The PDP requests that President Buhari take all necessary steps to ensure that the general elections in 2023 would be peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible as Nigerians are prepared and determined to cast their ballots.
