FRSC Sympathizes With Victims Of The Lagos Train, Tragedy Urges Authorities To Build Gates At Railroad Level Crossings

Dauda Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, has expressed condolences for the victims of the Thursday train accident in Lagos.

Biu encouraged relevant authorities to build level crossing railway gates to improve safety in nationwide train operations.

At the PWD rail crossing, off the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, a passenger train collided with a fully loaded staff vehicle owned by the Lagos State Government, according to information provided to GISTNGR.

The collision took six lives and injured numerous people.

The Corps Spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, stated on Friday urging traders to abstain from the unwholesome practice of setting up shop near or on rail tracks.

The Corps Marshal also issued a warning to all classes of road users not to cause excessive interference with rail tracks, whether or not trains were using them.

“The Corps Marshal sympathize with the families of the deceased and also wished the injured a speedy recovery and the relatives of the deceased the strength to endure the losses,” the statement’s opening line stated.

“He pledged that the crash will be probed and congratulated the FRSC team and other first responders, including the Nigeria Police, LASEMA, and LASTMA for their quick rescue of the victims.”
