US Secretary Of State Calls Tinubu, Assures Of Friendly Relationship And Seeks Stronger Tie

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, has been promised by United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken that relations between the two nations will be friendly.

During a 20-minute phone call with Tinubu on Tuesday evening, Blinken provided the guarantee.

In a statement released by the Office of the President-elect and signed by Tunde Rahman, Tinubu pledged to get to work quickly and bring the nation together once he took office on May 29.

He further committed to doing his part to maintain good ties with the US.

Asiwaju Tinubu talked on the phone with Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state. The candid and cordial phone conversation, which was started by the US envoy, happened on Tuesday night.

“The President-elect stated that his first order of business would be to implement development programs and institutional changes to strengthen our democratic institutions and assist the poor and disadvantaged Nigerians.

He also reaffirmed his resolve to uphold Nigeria’s democracy and genuinely serve the people in his capacity as president.

“During the roughly 20-minute conversation, President-elect Tinubu recalled how the US had granted him asylum when he was forced into exile while fighting for the return of democracy to Nigeria. He also reiterated his commitment to democracy and expressed his unwavering belief that the outcome of the elections, which he won, represented the wishes of the Nigerian people.

He added encouraged the US to take into account Nigeria’s significant position in Africa and offer the necessary assistance in the fields of security and economic investment so that the country might lead the way and be a shining example to the rest of the continent.

“Secretary Blinken reassured Nigerian officials that they can expect a positive and productive partnership with the US.

He pledged to do his share to maintain good relations between the two countries, stating that a democratic and stable Nigeria is crucial to both the US and Africa.

The statement said, “President-elect Tinubu and Secretary Blinken concluded their conversation with warm greetings and a commitment to keep the lines of communication open while maintaining a strong partnership between the two nations.
